Life is about picking the right horse — in business, relationships, investments, and the people you surround yourself with.

After more than 50 years in business and a lifetime of wins, losses, mistakes, and major transitions, I’ve learned that you don’t have to make every decision perfectly. But you do need to recognize when you’re betting on the wrong horse — and have the courage to change direction.

In this video, I share some of the lessons I’ve learned about making choices, trusting your judgment, learning from mistakes, and knowing when it’s time to move on.

The question I want you to think about is simple:
Are you riding the right horse in your life right now?

Leave me a comment. I’d like to hear your story.

The Secret to Winning in Life: It’s About the Horse You Pick
What happens when an affidavit is signed “under penalties of perjury,” but you believe the information inside is wrong?

One of the biggest lessons I learned through divorce was simple:

Don’t assume. Verify everything.

Assets. Income. Debt. Property. Family obligations. If it matters financially, understand the facts before making decisions.

I’ve been through two divorces, and I’m sharing the lessons I learned so others can avoid some of the mistakes and expense.

My Divorce Affidavit Was Signed Under Penalty of Perjury. Here’s What I Learned
I loved everything about my Salomon shoes except one thing: the Quicklace system.

After struggling with them at airport security, I was ready to get rid of the shoes completely.

Instead, I found a simple solution in Vietnam. My local laundromat converted them to traditional laces, cleaned the shoes, and had them ready in less than two days.

Another Life After 70 lesson: don’t throw away something good just because one part doesn’t work. Find a solution.

🇻🇳 Happy Vietnam National Day!

On September 2, 1945, Vietnam declared its independence.

As an American living in Vietnam, I’m grateful for the way the Vietnamese people have welcomed me with open arms. I’ll be celebrating with you, learning more about your history, and enjoying this special national holiday.

Thank you, Vietnam. Happy National Day! 🇻🇳

I spent my career studying numbers, patterns, trends and risk. So I decided to do something I had never done before - run the numbers on divorce in my own family.

The results got my attention.

Across the family groups I looked at, 9 of 20 people had experienced divorce — 45% of my personal family sample.

And then there's my own record: - two marriages, two divorces.

I'm not sharing this to blame my former wives or tell anyone not to get married. I'm sharing it because after two divorces and more than seven decades of life, I've learned that marriage deserves something we understand very well in business:

Due diligence.

Before marriage, understand the person — but also understand the family, money, fidelity, religion, children, career, expectations and commitment.

And don't stop there.

Do due diligence on yourself.

I was a businessman, provider and workaholic. I spent years believing that working hard, making money and providing for my family meant I was doing my job. Today I understand that providing financially and being emotionally present aren't necessarily the same thing.

Now, in my 70s and living in Vietnam, I'm applying those lessons to dating and companionship. I'm taking my time. I'm looking for compatibility, respect, trust and peace — and I'm asking myself questions I should have asked decades ago.

My advice to my children, grandchildren and anyone considering marriage:

Don't be afraid of love. Don't go into it blind.

Know their history. Know their family. Talk about money. Talk about fidelity. Talk about children. Talk about religion. Talk about careers and expectations.

Then take an equally hard look in the mirror.

Because sometimes - the biggest risk in the deal is you.

This isn't legal, financial or marriage counseling. It's one man's experience after two marriages, two divorces, decades in business and a lifetime of lessons.

If you've been through divorce, what is the one thing you wish you had understood before getting married?

My Wife Cheated — It Changed My Life
What does everyday life really cost in Vietnam? 🇻🇳

During a four-night trip to Da Nang, I brought my laundry to one of my favorite local businesses.

Pajamas, T-shirts, lounge pants, a polo shirt, dress shirt, dress pants and more—all washed, cleaned, folded and ready when promised.

The total?

250,000 Vietnamese đồng—less than $10 USD.

But this story isn’t really about cheap laundry.

It’s about the service, hospitality and hardworking people I’ve met while living in Vietnam. The owner has been in business for around 10 years, has two sons and three little dogs I jokingly call her security team.

She’s always smiling. The clothes are always clean. And they never seem to miss the promised pickup time.

These everyday experiences are a big part of why I’ve grown to love Vietnam.

Follow along as I continue sharing what life in Vietnam is really like after 70.

America Could Learn From Vietnam.
I've been through divorce twice — once at 33 with three children, and again at 66 after a long marriage and a prenup.

Those two experiences taught me something I wish I'd understood the first time: **winning every battle can still mean losing the war.**

In this video, I share what I learned about family-law litigation, attorneys, mediation, prenups, alimony, legal fees, negotiation, protecting your children, and knowing when it's time to stop fighting and make a deal.

I'm not giving legal advice. I'm sharing lessons from my own experience — including mistakes that cost me money, time, energy and peace.

If you're facing divorce, especially with children, assets or a business involved, educate yourself before emotion takes control.

Take care of your kids. Take care of your family. And take care of yourself — because nobody else is coming to save you.
