My mother, Virginia LaManna, served on the board of directors for Vomela Specialty Company, a family business, for ten years. While raising 11 kids and supporting 150 employees, she developed the culture of that business, which was ‘the family business’. The faith, devotion, and commitment she invested in raising her family, she also brought to developing the culture of the business. People always come first; do the right thing. The things I know about family, family values, family business, and succession I learned from my parents, who was supportive throughout the entire transition of our own family business succession. All the gifts and blessings she passed on to her eleven children, she also passed on to the family business which influenced and shaped me and for that I am grateful.
